This morning at breakfast in Altoona, Amber's Grandmother would not allow us to leave Perkins without choosing which type of mammoth muffin we wanted. After helping her into her car we hugged Nanie and Amber's parents goodbye. We hopped into our little Impreza and set a course for home.
After driving the 3 and half hours required to get to Philadelphia, Ralph, Amber and I dragged our week's worth of luggage into our home in Philadelphia which is two blocks away from Urban Hope. As I sorted dirty and over-packed clothes into respective piles, I couldn't help but think of how the Holy Spirit was at work this past week.
The generosity Ralph, Amber and I experienced from Believers reminded me of Acts 2:44-47:
All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.
People we barely knew and close friends alike opened up the doors of their homes and their hearts to share the love of Jesus to us. From the Ritters to the Hawthornes to the Youngs to the Hocks to the Mallows to the Dobsons to the Kotzatoskis to Nanie, Ralph, Amber and I would like thank you for the Great Love--that can only come from God's Holy Spirit--you have shown us this amazing week.
